Day In Galena

7:30 am – Leave the Watertown Plank Park and Ride with an additional pick-up at the Pewaukee Park and Ride. And we are off to Historic Galena!
Our first stop will be in downtown Galena where you can do some shopping and have lunch. Afterward, we reconvene at the bus to make our way to the Home of President Grant.
Following the tour, we head to the West Street Sculpture Park.
​More than a dozen, large, welded steel sculptures are located throughout two acres in a natural setting. All art is the work of John Martinson.
 
The final featured tour is the Elihu Washburn House.
The Greek Revival house was constructed in 1844-45. The building was built for and owned by Elihu Washburne, a prominent Galena lawyer who served in Congress during the American Civil War and as Secretary of State and Minister to France under President Grant. The Washburne House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
​Our final stop is the Galena Cellars Winery where we enjoy a substantial buffet at the vineyard. (Alcohol is available at an additional cost).
We head back to Milwaukee after the winery.
